I bought a rear end housing at a swap meet, the # stamped on the axle tube is CQ0217B. Can anyone tell me what it is?

CQ was used in 65/66 for this and 68/69 for the 2.56
Measure the outside width. 64/67 is 60 1/2", 68/72 is 61 1/4"

3959038NF was used in the 1969 model year for the Chevelle 12 bolt and the A 8 9 casting date , January 8, 1969, confirms that. So CQ, as mentioned earlier, was 2.56 non-posi in 1969. The assembly date of 0217, Feb. 17, makes sense with the casting date. Now you know it all!:thumbsup:
