: Dads '77 Z/28, the suspense is killing me
notstock71 Dec 6th, 06, 8:29 PM After 25 years without the car, and now having located it, the suspense is killing me if I can get it back. I called the owner tonight and we spoke for a few minutes. He's going to get some pics on the digital camera and he will be in Omaha Sunday. We are going to get together and talk then. I was hoping to go to him with a trailer in tow. This is driving me insane!!!!

MrBill66Malibu Dec 6th, 06, 8:35 PM Lewis,
Is he willing to sell it?

notstock71 Dec 6th, 06, 8:40 PM I don't know, he hasn't said yes or no. Being he is taking the pics and coming over Sunday it seems hopeful. I'm worried about the price. I've been saving for awhile for another car. I wanted a '77 Z/28 like dads but I never thought I would find HIS car. Hopefully I have enough. From what he said it needs I think I should have enough but who knows. I have alot of memories in it so getting it back and sharing it with my boys growing up would be great. I'm trying not to go too crazy thinking about it but it's not working.
MrBill66Malibu Dec 6th, 06, 8:50 PM Lewis,
The best thing to do is calm down,:beers: this guy might want to hit you with a big number thinking you have to have this car because it was your Dad's. Set your limit before he comes over and stick to it !! You can always get a 77 Z/28 and make it look just like your Dad's. Good luck, I'm rooting for you !!!

chevelledude71 Dec 6th, 06, 9:24 PM Good luck, I think it's cool what you are doing. I would love to have my dad's old Chevelle...no chance in finding that beast.

Good luck. Obvious but needs stated, make sure you know what similar condition 77's are worth so you don't get hosed.
2cool Dec 7th, 06, 1:30 AM I had a 76 sold it after about a year dang thing was falling apart.
Not trying to rain on your parade but keep this in mind the newer cars were not built as good and used a lot of plastic before they knew how it would react in vibration.
1BLACKHARLEY Dec 7th, 06, 11:28 AM man i hope this works for you, but like others have said, be calm, act like if you get it fine, if not, fine...
we here, are on pins also. my boss is 69 years old, his father died when he was 9. at the time of his death, his father owned a jewelry shop that was closed and everything sold off, recently i recieved a call from his home town and told to go to e-bay with a certain #, i pulled it up, and it was the original marque clock, from his fathers business, has his dad's name on it and everything. i was calm, chased out other bidders, and was able to get the clock for a relitively decent price. he'll be getting it for christmas morning. think about it, he hasn't seen this clock in 60 years, and we are able to give him back a piece of his past.
if you are able to do this for your dad, i'm sure he'll be speechless. but don't let the guy take advantage. my bosses wife was willing to throw 1,000'$ at this clock, but i kept a cooler head, and was able to get it for a fraction of that.
i think what you are doing is way cool, my father has passed, and i wish i could find just one of his cars, even if it was his 58 p.o.s. ford p/up, but i wouldn't even know where to start. i would love to find his 60 chevy sedan delv. his 57 chevy, his 56 buick, even his morris minor woody wagon, hell i'd give body parts to find his 58 caddy. or his 50 ford drop top, that you were able to track his camaro is cool, to actually be able to give it back, outstanding......
