I have a 72 Chevelle that was converted by a previous owner from an automatic to an M22 4 Speed. Everything was done 1st rate on the conversion except the back up light switch for the 4 Speed was never installed....I would appreciate any help as to where the switch is to be located as well as info on the wiring to it.
Thanks,

The short cut to getting the backup lites to work is just move the old column shift collar to the reverse position if it was a column shifted automatic. Failing that, if it was a console shifted auto take the top plate off and look for the switch wire and piezo switch. Painless Wiring has a switch and bracket that you can connect to the reverse shift rod that will wire into your stock wiring harness from the console shift location or wire into the base of the steering column wire harness comb.
Look at the wiring diagram for your car and locate the color of wire you are looking for and check for operation by using a test lite.
