I have an old ‘76 Chevy truck that’s just a play toy and am wanting to put a different cam in it. I have no history on the motor, just that it was rebuilt buy a shop in Springfield, MO at some point. It runs pretty good but I’m wanting to get as much out of it as I can. I don’t know what heads are on it, just truck heads I’m sure. I’m thinking of running a solid of sort. I’m guessing it runs about 8.5-1 or 9-1 compression. I put a 670 Holly spread bore mechanical secondary’s with a 1 in. spacer on it with a factory aluminum intake, it has full length headers and a 2.5 inch exhaust dumped in front of the back axel. I mainly use the truck for playing in the mud, hauling wood, and show up at the local truck pulls in my area. I’m wanting to change cam, lifters, and springs. It floats out about 5700-6000 now and am not wanting to spin it much over this but am not wanting to have to watch the tach so close that it floats out. The truck is just an old half ton 4x4 4speed with a 350 that I’m planning on putting more leafs in the back. It squatted so bad this year at the pull I about had my front drivers side tire off the ground and was almost digging a trench with the back bumper! But it was fun and I beat two ¾ ton trucks so I didn’t do to bad! (227 ft 11 in) Just want to get the most TQ and HP out of it I can that’s why I was thinking of going solid. I hope PDQ and others will give some advice on this. Not wanting to change much but the cam and stuff since it’s just a play toy. Sorry so long!! Thanks to all of the TC members!!

Thanks!!
