: Who will do my exhaust?
Vampyro Jan 4th, 01, 4:56 PM Does anyone know of a muffler/exhaust place that does a good job at a reasonable price over here in Washington? I have a '70 SS and want 40 series Flow's and new piping, the stock look hanging from my same hangers. I also want a crossover pipe. Also, does anyone know what kind of price is reasonable so that I don't get ripped off?
Thanks guys.

Redrum Jan 4th, 01, 5:32 PM Walt Austin Racing (WAR) is the play shop of Walt's of Walt's Radiator and Mufflers. He is a huge Chevy enthusiast and will do custom work there. He did the exhaust on my Corvette there in 2 1/2 inch custom bent tubes. ProMax speed shop is his new adventure in Tacoma and they do custom work there too.

68Chevelleguy Jan 4th, 01, 5:52 PM I just got a brand new 2 1/4" system put on my '68 with aluminized compression bent tubing and 40 series, 2 chamber Flows. A company called Performance Exhaust in Pacific Washington did it for me, EXCELLENT work, and good prices too. The only thing you would have to do is be kind of patient, they had my Chevelle for a couple days, but it's only because they take a lot of pride in their work, I know, because they guy who actually installed the system for me, I work with his son. They also have a HUGE inventory of Flowmasters in stock, they told me that that is all they were thinking about carrying, because that's all anyone wants http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif
Let me know if you are interested and I can pass along their phone # and address for you. But I must give you kudos for going with 40 series man! I love mine to death, they are actually a little too quiet for me, but I laugh at the wimps who say the 2 chambers are too loud. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif Anyways, let me know, and I will be more then happy to give you their number and address.

RAMBO Jan 5th, 01, 6:14 PM Wow- all the washington guys come out of the wood work! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
I had mine done at Dan Fast Muffler & Brakes in Bellevue. They did a great job, used all aluminized pipes, welded in a balance tube, All that, and they put up with me standing there watching/directing the whole thing. It took 'em about 4 hours to do the whole thing.
It was all custom bent on the spot and they worked with me to get the tailpipes angled exactly the way i wanted.
They stocked a bunch of different brands of mufflers, Dynomax, borla, Flowmaster, and some cheapos. I brought in my own Edlebrock(love 'em) mufflers and they didn't give me any crap about using them instead of selling me theirs.
I also had them do my brakes & they were very good with them too.
I'd definitely recomend them. They are located on Bel-Red Road in between 124th & 120th.
If you want good aluminized pipes custom bent, a crossover tube & good mufflers, I would have at least $500+ ready to spend.
I think mine (w/o cost of mufflers, since I bought them mailorder) ran about $500. Add about $100-$150 for two flowmaster mufflers.
Anyway- Good luck with the exhaust!

Schurkey Jan 6th, 01, 7:53 AM Do it yourself, in your driveway, with the Flowmaster Force II pipe kit, and the muffs of your choice. I did on my '68 'Camino. Took less than two hours, looks good, sounds good (but a bit loud for my taste. Not terrible, though.)
I used stainless steel band clamps so the pipes were not distorted...and therefore I can swap the pipes to another car later. The Force II needed no modifications on my 'Camino other than to cut 4" off the right side pipe where it connects to the header reducer. All hangers are included, as is the crossover. You'll need reducers to connect to the headers.
Cam Sweet Jan 8th, 01, 11:36 AM I'd have to agree with Schurkey. As far as I know there is nobody in the Seattle area that can mandrel bend exhaust tubing.
