i've got generic turbos that i installed what i thought was correct, only to reinstall them 3 times to get the fit right. problem: there is no "front" or "back" marking, and the fit for each inlet/outlet is the female side (same size dia.) this is unbelievable (curse JC whitney).
what will happen if i'm wrong? will back pressure trash the engine?

Usually only factory replacement mufflers are uni-directional, Turbos are bi-directional by design to cover a wider array of applications without having 3 million different designs.
