I was reading the other thread about the gold ls6 and didn't want to interupt it.

Were there a lot of gold ls6's.

In 1970 at kaleva dragway, kaleva michigan a gold ls6 used to race, quite a bit, it raced a 70 dodge demon with a ramchargers built 340, they were close to running even most of the time, called the demon the yankee hustler, can't remember if the chevelle had stripes, but it was new.

The owner lived in kaleva, but can't remember his name, that strip is still going today, but I think its a eight mile now.

Just wondering how many gold ones.

Hey I don't mind you interrupting that thread at all...it's a good question to me and I am sure the owner of that car would agree...in our town at least there's no hardly no other gold cars of any model let alone an LS6 with no stripes...BIG BLOCK'S car has been raced alot in it's life but as far as I know the original owner didn't buy the car for that...however he may have raced it a one of several 'spots' which were close to where he lived in those days...Tulsa had a pretty big drag strip scene at that time as well with national caliber events I believe...I promise I'll try to get you all the video of the gold car racing the gold Buick...

In the thread you are referring to I put a link there that leads to a story about a bunch of stuff found in trailers...amongst all of it a gold LS6 and a blue LS6...that is the only gold LS6 that I have really heard about although I am very new to researching this stuff...

Lately because of the gold Chevelle I have come to really like the idea of gold muscle cars. I look at some of the Camaros and Vettes that are painted gold and think they sure are pretty cool...so many of these cars are sorta cliche black, red, blue, and yellow you know and it seems like practically every Chevelle has stripes. I am not saying those cars aren't way cool it just sorta makes me appreciate the golds, and silvers, and other weird colors even that much more.

Very good question IMO rubadub I'm curious about it myself...

I was 29 years old in 1970, I ran a 69 dart 340, so I was always pulling for the demon, but I can still see those cars going down the quarter yet today.

The guy that had the ls6 either had a garage or a restaurant, I can't remember, but he would always park it beside the building, my home town was ten miles from Kaleva .

One dealership in Butler Indiana sold 3 Autumn gold LS6's, 2 coupes and an Elky. The elky was owned by a radiator shop, and it was parted out in the mid 90's. Motor was long gone, and the truck was a rusty heap by then. One coupe is in Huntington IN, it is a numbers matching auto trans car, with cloth interior. The other coupe was in the Hoagland area for a long time, but is was sold in the late '90's.
