Hi all. My name is Brendon Beukes from South Africa. Recently bought a right hand drive 1968 4-door 6-cylinder Chevelle Malibu. According to reg. papers, engine displacement is 3687 cc and develops 145kW/200HP. VIN 395388 , Engine Number 66352ZAR. Car was built in South Africa but looks identical to photo on your 4-door page(photo is of a blue car with white vinyl top).Car spent its life in a very car-friendly climate away from humidity/sea air, so is 99% rust free. Has had a sub-grade respray somewhere along the line but black vinyl top and all chrome work as well as interior is still very good. Electric windows working, but assume that Pioneer 8-track stereo is not original. Bought out of a deceased estate from what appears to have been the original owner. I need to upgrade the front drum brakes to discs. Am happy to leave drums on the back. Please point me in the right direction. Am also looking for taillights and rear shocks (Gabriel part no. 450449). We have no classic American muscle car parts suppliers out here in Africa. A couple of guys do supply v-8 motors and transmissions so no problem there. Can I buy replacement panels for a four door Chevelle as I have seen is available on two door models? I am willing to pay for shipping through UPS or DHL.

Tail Lights.. as in the bulbs themselves or the lens? Shocks can be had any number of places online.. Jegs, Summit, ebay...
and.. Welcome........
Welcome Brendon. It sounds like a neat car. When I looked up the 'AR' engine code I found it could be a '69 vintage 230 from either a Camaro, Nova or Chevelle and backed by a 3-speed automatic. Another 'AR' code shows as a '65 Chevelle 194 six with a 2-speed automatic.
Nearly all the African Chevelles and Beaumonts I've heard of had either 230 or 250 c.i.d. six cylinder engines (3.7 or 4.1 liters respectively).
Replacement door panels for 4-door body styles until recently have been hard to come by but now you can get them for 4-door sedans due to the growing popularity of station wagons. Since your car is a 4-door hardtop body style it may be a problem though. You could try to advertise on this site for some used door panels, but the problem is your South African address. Unfortunately a lot of scams originate from that region so many people may be reluctant to deal with anyone in that region. I know my ISP blocks e-mails from that area due to the disproportionate number of fraudulent e-mails and transactions that have been reported. At any rate, stick around and make yourself known. You will undoubtably learn more about your car and Chevelles, and you also can establish a trust level that will help with trying to procure parts for your car. I personally have never had any problems dealing with any member of this site for parts or books in the 10 years I have been on this site.

Hi all and thanks for replying to my request for taillights. I actually am still looking for the taillight lenses and bezels and gaskets for my 1968 Malibu 4-door. I assure anyone who reads this that this is not some type of scam.(as the last reply that I received implied.). Yes! Believe it or not the rest of the world actually does exist and NO we ARE NOT a bunch of criminals or NEO-Nazis or whatever. Geez guys, all I asked for was taillight lenses!!!!!!!!!!! By the way my car is a stock 4100cc straight six with Powerglide 2-speed. Soon to be 350TBI with 4-speed auto from a Chevy Tahoe. Am busy building the motor at the moment. Please anyone, those taillight lenses???
P.S. My car is NOT for sale.
