Has anyone had the opportunity to use the Sunchaser tools friction system dent repair kit? pro's, con's, opinions? Thanks,
Terry

I have the entire "Friction System" http://www.sunchasertools.com/

from Ken at Sunchaser. I bought the grinder (a Miwaukee 15 amp 5000 RPM) the disc, 80 grit discs and the videos. I have found it to do everything he advertises. The Video is mind numbing, very poorly done. He is NOT a pro at acting, or cinematography but he IS a pro at metalworking. He shows a lot of very good info on the video on using the "Friction System" and just regular metal working in cluding "dressing" hammers and dollies (where you grind and polish the faces for more profesional work). I have been metal finishing for 25 years so I did have a jump on the idea. The "Friction system" did the job amazingly well. I have done very thin sheetmetal on late model Japanese cars. The thinner the metal the easier it is to use actually. Picture using sort of a "heat block" to shrink. You heat only the high spots just like a sanding block would sand only the high spots. You then cool it and are shrinking only the high spots. Pretty neat idea I think. It's uses are limited to flatter panels and it is a LOT of hard work being the grinder weighs as much as a SBC. He also has other tools and is always a nice guy to do business with.

Martinsr, I was hoping to hear back from you on this. The price seems reasonable for the system, and the extra effort involved would be worth it to me. Thank you,
Terry

I've been interested in it too. I emailed him with my contact info, but have yet to hear anything. How much does the whole Friction System kit sell for?

I don't have the info on the prices. I can tell you however that Ken is NOT much of a computer guy. I have talked to him for about two years about setting up a web site and it just happened last summer. I have to assume that he doesn't run in his house and check his emails like I do http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

SA1970, I'll have an exact total for the kit today, going there to pick it up in person. Martinsr, Thanks again for your honest evaluation. You are a great asset to our hobby,

That's not THAT bad of a price. I'm still interested. It seems like everyone has a website nowadays. But I guess some are still not giving in to it. Is there a way to order the kit or do you have to wait until he sends you the information, pricing, etc.?

Just give Ken a call @ 626-795-1588. I didn't make it there in person, but had a friend pick it up for me a little while ago. said he was pleasant & very helpful, even demo'd the strip-it disk, than let her try it. She helped me strip the frame on a 55 chevy pu, and said that these disk's would have cut our stripping time down to about 1/3. Ken also says he's going to put out another video about working with rust, and patch panels.
