Hello guys,

I am just wondering where these wires would go. The car is a '70 Monte Carlo. Two of them I have an idea of where they go. I think 3 of these connections aren't needed because I have a gauges to monitor these parts. Should I just wrap the unused wires within my plastic conduit? I should tape them off too to decrease the chance of a short.

#1 No idea what this is for

#2 I think this wire is for the temp sending unit (I have a gauge so I won't be using this)

#3 I am pretty sure this is for the brakes

#4 We think this is oil pressure

Thanks

Kris

1. Looks like it might have been for the air conditioner compressor
2. is for the temperature sending unit
3. plugs into the proportioning valve for the brakes
4. is for the oil pressure sending unit

If you are not going to use them tie them up away from heat and make sure the metal ends of the correctors are not exposed.

Agree on 2,3 & 4. But #1 doen't look flat.. the A/C compressor is a flat 2 wire connector.. that one look like it is 90deg or L in shpe, maybe the High idle silenoid?

Better picture would help.. but a white paper behind it and repost the picture.

#1 looks like tcs sensor(high low switch) If you don't want it, I'll buy it from you.

#2 looks like temp sensor wire because it has cloth wrapping on it.

Hello guys,

Thanks again. I don't have any AC hardware like vents or the AC control panel so I guess it could be the TCS. Someone could have put the wire in throughout it's history though..

I will try to have some close up pics of the suspected TCS piece.

Sure hobbiescracer I can sell you the piece I don't even need the whole TCS system. I can sell you it all if you want. I can take some more pics too.

Hello again guys,

I took a close up pick with the white paper background of the possible TCS attachment. So do you guys think it is a TCS wire?

Thanks

Sure helps to have good info.. some research on the TCS.

The TCS (Transmission Controlled Spark) relay was introduced during the 1970 model year. There were two types of relays used. There were also two different mounting methods for each different relay. There were also three different fasteners used. (mounted to either the wiring gutter or the firewall).
The relay was used in conjunction with a transmission switch, a vacuum solenoid, and temperature switch. It varied the amount of vacuum sent to the distributor to aid emissions.

you mention 2 different types of relays, what's their difference?? how were they mounted differently?
