I am thinking of replacing my cracked plastic original front inner fenders on my 69 Chevelle with the Goodmark steel ones. The Goodmarks are made with several punched dents about 1/4 inch deep that look like they were for mounting something. My plastic ones are smooth and don't have any of these dents. Did the original steel inner fenders have these? Would it look more original if I fill them in?
Thanks for any help!

I replaced the plastic ones on mine with the Goodmark steel ones. I think the steel ones look much better. I believe the factory steel ones had the dimples also and there's no rhyme or reason known which cars got steel and which got plastic at the factory (some got one of each). I think the dimples were there as a guide to where holes should be drilled for certain equipment just like the firewall dimples.

When I replaced the steel original inner fenders on my '69 the dimples were there. Like you when I saw the dimples in the Goodmark inners I thought there was a problem, until I checked the old originals. Hope this helps some....
