Hello guys,

I am trying to follow Mark Hamilton's diagram for The New System modifcation of my 1970 Monte Carlo's Main Power Distrubution System.

http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/chevymain2.shtml

One of wires that goes into the underhood terminal block is the Dash Main Power Up Wire. My understanding is that you trace the original wire (which I think is 12 guage) from the underhood fuse block, splice into it and then run it to the terminal block (using 12 guage). The last step is to protect it using 16 guage fusible link.

I am trying to figure out which wire to splice into.

From my wiring diagram there are 2 12 guage wires leading into the fuse block a red and a purple. I don't think it is the purple. So is it the red??

I have included a pic too. The pencil points to the one I think is the splice in point.

Thanks

Kris

i did this mod on my 68-malibu.
purple wire is for the starter.
red is dash power up.
Mark's wiring advice worked great for me.

Thanks Vince,
The M.A.D modifaction takes into account some simple priciples ie (Ohms Law) reducing resitance (using 8 gauge wire etc).

I like the fact they he just doesn't say throw away the original wiring harness but just modify a little and things will work well.

I talked on the phone with him and he was very nice to me. He didn't know me from a hole in the ground but yet he was willing to explain things to me. I would recommend people look him up.
