Can anyone tell me if epoxy primer is available in red oxide color. We're working on a '57 wagon and the underside still has the original red oxide primer in place. Would like to retain the original look with a durable waterproof covering.
I know POR 15 is widely used on bare metal but have been told it is not to be used over an existing painted surface. Any experiences with this?
You can get epoxy primer color-tinted. I did, and besides adding $$, it sets up harder, so do your block sanding.
POR will work over paint, just won't get the benifit or protection.

DP-74 by PPG is what we use for our red oxide finishes. Very durable.

I finished my 57 last year and I used DP74 by PPG to start but later I had the paint store mix acrylic Enamel ,Dupont Centari/ and it was a lot less expensive and is the right color, and looks good and is durable. I can get you the mix code if you need it . Good luck with your 57
