I think it only works for newer. 81 or 82 I think is when the 17 digits started.

Not for nothing, but how can they get their deal suspended? Can't you check as many cars as you like? How do they know you are checking them for someone else? Just curious, if I had it, I'd check. Greg, I think you can enter the vin on there, and it tells you if there is an issue with it. It just doesn't tell you what. That's when you're supposed to come up with the money to subscribe. That's what happened to me with the 87 monte SS I bought for my son. I had already bought the car, but was a little leary about the title (duplicate title) so I had someone do a carfax for me. It just came up with some odometer discriprencies, that I was not too concerned with. But you do need the 17 digits or it's no good.
