: Will these oil pans work in a 70?
SSJeff Dec 2nd, 06, 3:47 PM Hi all
Just want to see if one of these pans will work in my 70...I have done much researching and I believe they will fit without modifying the crossmember, but I don't want to find out the hard way.
Thanks for your help
BTW, the kick out pan is the 20403 and the other is 20451

bracketchev1221 Dec 2nd, 06, 3:54 PM Yes I have the 20403 in my car.
I think the 20403 is the same size as the 20401 which is what I have in my 70 Chevelle. It fits.

SSJeff Dec 2nd, 06, 4:45 PM Thanks guys, you all are the greatest!!
Also, if you have any other recommendations for other pans that will work I would like to hear about them.
I don't want anything that sits real low, but I want some more capacity than the stocker that I have now.

bracketchev1221 Dec 2nd, 06, 4:55 PM The 20403 in my car sits pretty much even with the bottom of the crossmember.

I have the same pan in my 70 Chevelle and this is exactly where mine sits
ditto, the 20401 sits dead even with the bottom of the crossmember.
Tom Mobley Dec 2nd, 06, 7:09 PM is the 20403 the one that guys are complaining about not being able to get their oil filter out if they have headers? I recall several threads from guys who had to loosen up the header to get the filter out.

I have Hedman 1.75 tube headers and no issues at all removing/installing the oil filter. (20403 pan)
Bob West Dec 2nd, 06, 7:53 PM It was a tight fit with Dynomax 1.75" headers, had to squeeze the filter in but it was doable without removing or loosening the header. I now have the Hedman 2"x3" headers and the filter drops out.
bracketchev1221 Dec 3rd, 06, 9:53 AM I had the hooker 2 1/8 headers and had no problems. Now my 2 1/4 headers well that's a different story.
SSJeff Dec 3rd, 06, 10:55 AM Thanks for the feedback....I think I will order the 20403 since it has windage tray and crank scraper included.
