I'm ready to put the glass back in my newly re-chromed vent wing frames on my 68. I have some of the black rubber type material that was given to me a long time ago from a glass shop. But, installing it dry is very tight. If I was to lube it, it seems to me it would slip out. I don't really want to use RTV. I would just like to re-install it the way it was originaly installed. Any clues how to do it?

Try soapy water.
