Hello guys,I am looking to buy a 12 bolt rear and it is supposed to be for a 65 chevelle, the casting number on the centre section is 3859140N and the codes on the axle tube are CX O 90 9 B I should also mention that the numeric codes almost appear as if they might be stamped upside down which would make it: CX 6 06 O B Id attach a pic of the codes but I dont know how!!

According to a reference book I have, a 'CX' axle code for '65 is a non-posi with a 3.07 gear ratio.

That casting number was used in 1965 and very early 1966. That Sept. 9 date could have been used in either a 65 or a 66 depending on what year the casting date is (Sept. of 64 or 65). The casting date is located on the driver side upper reinforcement web facing the rear.

The 65 will bolt in but has different spring pads than the 67. You will need spring retainers and bolts if they don't come with the rear end. New spring retainers are available from GM.
