: Today's barn find !!!!!
Mr69 Nov 30th, 06, 5:53 AM 1969 Malibu
Lemans Blue, black bucket seat 4 speed console car.
ya think it's got any potential?
Looks pretty rough. But almost no rust !
I've been rubbing on the door to expose the original blue paint. Some idiot rattle can primered it.
That's tree sap on the glass. Along with concrete dust. The sap comes right off with OOOO steel wool.
OK, I'll admit this is my car that I saved from the crusher about 4 years ago. Moving it from one storage spot to another tomorrow.
mad hooker Nov 30th, 06, 6:47 AM dood im sooo jealous nate....i hate you! i wish i had all that stuff...
A bucket seat 4 speed Malibu? Definately worth saving. If a 300 hp L48 350, it would be on par with 325 hp SS's. With the 3.31 gears (or optional 3.55's) an L48 4 speed comes std with, a mild cam, and headers, you could blow away most stock 325 hp SS cars.
oldtimebaseballfan Nov 30th, 06, 8:57 AM That is a nice find. Good luck on the resurrection.
Bowtie-72 Nov 30th, 06, 11:37 AM I expect to see a bowtie fnger-painted in the dust on that back window.
Looks like plenty of potential to me!

My sentiments exactly.
This is an L48 car, with a 12 bolt 3:31.
No AC, no vinyl top.
And I believe it to be even rarer as it is one of 722 with RPO F41
elcamino72 Dec 1st, 06, 9:05 AM Mr69, you certainly have a very nice car there, I can't wait until you get it finished and back onto the road!!!

Yeah it is!!! That's really straight! Good job :hurray:
It's getting towed out to it's new resting spot tomorrow.
I vacuumed it out and washed the windows.
Been rubbing the grey primer off with scotchbrite pad and more blue is coming out.
It's looking better already.
Had one orig bucket seat on the pass side. I puled the back off to look for a buildsheet. Nothing.
Pulled the pass door panel off. Nothing there either. :(
The rest of the interior is already gone
gas tank is gone too.
I guess no buildsheet.
This is the first time I've got the pass door open on this car. It wouldn't open from the outside. I got inside and gave it a heave ho and it opened right up !!
Jimmy P Dec 2nd, 06, 12:49 PM 1o years ago, I passed on that same car (not THE exact). It was highly optioned but was rusted VERY badly. The roof was ready to come off, there were no floors, trunk pans and the frame was swiss-cheesed.
I think they drove it in the ocean a few times.
You have a NICE one!
Mr69 Dec 2nd, 06, 11:15 PM I was looking this car over again today as it was loaded on the flatbed. It has no rust in the floor pans or trunkpan. No rust around the wheel wells.
The only rust it does have is around the back window and a tiny section about 6" long on the left side of the front lower windshield.
The frame is perfect.
This is going to be one cool car. I'm excited about it. And I have all of the hard parts to put it back together.
I will need a windshield, radiator, tires, interior kit, that kind of stuff.
Freddy Mercado Dec 3rd, 06, 11:03 AM Looks like you have a very nice project. Good luck man!!!
