: Quarter windows don't seal with the top. Anyone have Fisher manual?

Without buying the whole manual, I need to learn about the adjustment features in the rear quarter window of my 72 convertible.

I'm able to line the window up nicely with the front door window using the adjustment screws in the lifting mechanism. Problem is, I need the entire window to come up STRAIGHT up about 1/8 to 1/4 inch higher to make a seal with the top frame seals. I have all new seals from Goodmark, so old shrunken rubber isn't the issue. I just don't see anywhere that allows me to lift the entire window just a little more. Maybe it was flawed like that from the factory? I suspect that it may have been. My rear quarter panels were both rusted out & had to be replaced. So were my rear armrest ashtray inserts. This would lead me to believe that the seal has been poor for the life of the car.

I can't adjust the upper seals because then the top wouldn't fold properly. Also, I can't add a seal to the top of the windows because A) It wouldn't roll down past the window felts and B) It would look silly.

So, question is, does anyone have the fisher manual and will you look this up for me? Puhleeeze? Is anyone familiar with the problem I'm encountering? Is this an uphill battle?

Thanks for the help. This forum is such a lifesaver!

Sounds like you just need to adjust your "upper stops". Look towards the top part of the inner panel and try to find a couple of 7/16 headed bolts. Not real familiar with the 72's esp a convertible, but all these windows roll up and hit a stop that can be adjusted. Simply loosen the bolt that holds the stop or stops and crank your window up a little higher. Tighten bolts and your done.

I replaced the rear qt glass on my car last year. I have to admit this is a real pain. The top and bottom stops will give you the adjustment you are looking for. On mine the top stop has a v-groove that also helps seat the glass in the exact right place and gives you the last bit of adustment to help with up and side to side placement. Hard to explain this without beeing there. I forgot to replace a screw on a the ss trim piece for the boot. when I go to fix that problem I will take some photos for you.

Thank you! I saw the stops, but I noticed that all my adjustments to the slotted screws resulted in changing the forward tilt on the glass. I was having a hard time raising it up a bit more. I'll wait for your photos and go out and tackle it again. Thanks!!!:hurray:
