ok i found the wire for the temp gauge shorted the wire and the temp gauge went all the way over and back when i took the short off still no temp from engine i am using a gauge sending unit could this still be a gauge problem or maybe sending unit, the bottom pin is still grounded

Sounds like you have the wrong sending unit for the gauge. It should only have 1 pin for the gauge connection. A 2 pin (blade ) is for the TCS and is used on the passenger side.
There are some single pin senders for a light so watch out to make sure yu really have the gauge one.
