Gm has announced a restyled Malibu for 2008. No it isn't retro.

All the media types that have seen it say it's really good looking. It's going to be at the North American Intl Auto Show in Detroit in mid January. There's a picture of the interior at www.gminsidenews.com (http://www.gminsidenews.com). It's really sharp. Red/gray two-tone leather with dual cowl dash.

yet it still sucks Gm needs to do a retro of the 68 69 or even 70 Chevelle and have the old options of 300,300 Deluxe(thats what i have), Malibu, Greenbrier, Concours, and SS, and even do a chevelle wagon none of this LS, Standard,GS whatever the crap is today i like the old names i mentioned above now the only modern malibu today i like is the 1997 on up to 00' or 01' whatever style they had in 97 you know what i mean thats what i think Gm should do and im 100% all the way

Doesn't it seem that the cars are starting to look more and more like each other, even though they are "styled". I know there's not a lot you can do with the current platforms, but they all seem a little "bubbly". no smooth sleek lines anymore. No bold statement. No "I'm serious about my car" kinda stuff in the mainstream.

Well thats what my bodyshop boss said that GM is starting to stick with the bubble shape and did you notice all of the wrenched FORDS stick to the oval shape and they look like an egg im series if you study most all of Fords mid-sized cars they are all egg shaped and the same goes with CHRYSLER they stuck to the egg shape now some of CHRYSLERS cars arent so bad but they need to stick to the 50's 60's and 70's designs i think they would rise in profits because everyone likes they retro and did you notice the crowd for the new Camaro it was humungus and everone likes CHRYSLERS new design were the HEMI is an 8 cylinder but then for economic use it switches down to 4 cylinders its old styling with new technology that every company needs to start doing even foreign makes do little concepts of like the old 1930s MERCEDES and it would be nice to bring the DUESENBURG back in production for some reason i like those cars especially Jay Leno's Model X which is like i think 1 of 4 well thats my opinion.

Volvo is Ford, one of the few probably not up for sale or secured as collateral.

The trend towards the teardrop shape is the inevitable result of drag coefficients and their impact on fuel economy numbers. There are only so many ways to style a teardrop. You're right though, I do miss the old styling when a car had a distinctive profile and dramatic styling without resorting to garish details.

As long as they keep making them so anyone over 6' and 200 lbs. doesn't fit they can keep them!

If GM were to try to make that many diffrent models of the same car, they would be out of business faster than they could fire the idiot that thought that would be economical in today's market. It's not do-able anymore. GM is in trouble as it is, they certainly don't need to make it worse trying to appeal to a small select group of car buyers that prefer old cars. You have to remember, the whole world doesn't like or collect old cars. We are a minority in that aspect. GM designs cars to A: meet government fuel economy standards B: meet government safety standards and C: to appeal to the largest group of buyers.

They come close with the full size trucks:
1/2 ton crew cab 4.5' bed
1/2 ton 6' bed
1/2 ton 8' bed
3/4 6' bed
3/4 8' bed
3/4 crew 8' bed
1 tons
Chassis cabs
Suburban and Tahoe (truck-like station wagons)

in 2006, the Chevy truck had one of these engines:
4.3X, 4.8V, 5.3B, 5.3T, 5.3Z, 6.0U, 6.0N, 6.6D, 6.6"2", 8.1G

in 2007, the chevy truck has these:
4.3X, 4.8C, 5.3J, 5.3M, 5.3"0", 5.3"3", 6.0Y, 6.0K, 6.2"8", 6.6"6"

it's all just wrapped up into chassis types and what the trucks are built for.

If it's fast and RWD, I could live with the looks... if it's slow and FWD, it wouldn't matter how good a car looks, I'd hate it. :)
