MartinSR you seem very knowlegible about painting and given your user name I am assuming you have knowledge of Martin Senour paint products. What is your your opinion
of the Crossfire and Econo Body products?
Crossfire base seemed to be OK for the price in solid colors but I sprayed some
silver metallic and it didnt seem as user
freindly as tec-base as far as getting the metallic to lay out correctly. I have been
using some Econo Body overall clear, 2k primer, and self etch primer and the seem
like decent products as well.

Yes Soybean, I worked for Martin Senour at one time. Martin Senour IS Sherwin Williams if you didn't know. Cross/FIRE came out about the time I left my job with them. I only shot it a few times and found the base coat to be pretty nice. The single stage metallics were the easest to spray of any SS metallic I have ever sprayed.

I have to say that the technology use in the Cross/FIRE line (on the SW side they call it "Dimension") will be used in the upper end products in the future. It really is a good technology, whether you are seeing the best it has to offer is a different story. You have to remember, it is a "value line". It is less money, thus, less product.

The Econobody chemicals are great (the sand paper SUCKS). I only had a few complaints and all were directed towards the 15221 urethane primer being easy to solvent pop. It is, but if you apply it with proper atomization and DON'T BOMB it on, it is fine. It is not going to fill as well as the Tec/PRIME in the upper line. My favorite is 5103 Tint/PRIME with 5102 being my second favorite. They fill MUCH better than the 15221. The polyester 15205 is GREAT. It is made by PCL and is better than the 5190 which is made by Evercoat. All I ever got was positive news about the clears, I liked them and everyone else did too.

The etch 15210 IS (not similar, but IS) 8847 Trio/PRIME at half the cost. Check the MSDS, exactly the same. Ain't marketing fun?
