I am trying to change my auto transmission back to the column. The steering column still has the place for the lever. I pulled out the floor shifter and left the cable attached - laying under the car. Can anyone give me instructions on what to do next? I have a 1969 Chevelle. Can I go ahead and weld patches over the holes in my floor board where the floor shifter was installed?

If you are going back to the column the floor opening won't be required any longer. If you can find an AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) for a 69 it would probably be of great value to you.

Are there any tips for making this change that anyone can offer. I have the assembly manual but that does not provide real instructions.

Do you have the original linkage?

I have the original linkage from my 68 with a 350/TH350. If you would like my linkage you can have it for cheap. I have all the brackets you need to and even the shift lever with pin. Basically all you will need to conver it back. Reason I have this is because I converted my car to a manual and dont need it anymore.

Yes, close up the hole in the floor, you wont need it anymore.
