can you push the button in all the way? If you can does it meet any resistance? If the button won't go in, something is physically jamming the button mechanism. If you can push it in, the rod on the other end of the button is either not pressing on the latch lever correctly, or the latch itself is messed up, or something is wrong with the lock rod. Does the door lock and unlock normally with the lock knob?

This is all assuming the door itself isn't physically jammed i.e. an accident pushed the fender back into the door.

Take the fender off and remove the bolts. Probably a lot less damage that way.

My friends 69 elky did the same thing. there is an anti-rattle spring in the latch thats broke (I think). I rolled the window down, pushed the button in and held the top of the door for leverage. I pushed the door in as far as I could and pulled out rather quickly several times till I sheared the spring. This may work on your door. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I know this has been covered a few other times, it seems to happen a lot. On my door I rolled the window all the way up and used a flashlight to angle in and see my working door. I had to stick my hands in and feel it pushing and opening. I then went to my non-op door and did the same thing, and the push rod wasn't pushing the tab all the way in to open it. I used my fingers to do the work and pulled it open no kicking/damage needed.

yeah, what he said. Go from the inside since you can get in one way. If it hasn't been used in a long time, the mechanism is probably seized, and will need to be manually operated. Also, is the door sagging? it may have all of it's weight resting on the striker as well, which will make it harder too.

Well, idk how often you use your velle or what shape it is in, but alot of time old door latches gum up and just won't let go. I have done this on cars from 1975 up to 1995, but if you can get the door panel off or released enough so you can pull it back for access inside the door. If the paint is not fresh/you don't care about it, squirt lacquer thinner in/on the latch from the inside of the door shell. Do this a couple times and it will dissolve/break down the grease and gunk that has it bound up and let it release. Do not try this if the paint is fresh, it will peel it. If the paint is set up and cured for a year or so, then it usually won't bother the paint as long as you wipe off any excess that might run out. If that doesn't work, inside the door you can inspect the latch/lock mechanisms and see what's binding it up, and can try tripping the latch at the latch with your fingers, it could be the handle or rod that is binding up. Good luck!
