I found a donor frame. It is from a 1970 GTO. It should fit right? Same A body, so i would imagine that it would fit just fine under my 71 chevelle. I was going to sandblast the frame and finish it with either POR 15, or send it to get powder coated. Which do you guys reccomend? The car will see the street frequently so I tend to think the POR would be best. What are the downfalls of each method?? and last but not least what would you guys think a fair price is for the California rust-free frame? The frame is bare, no A arms or rear control arms. just a bare frame. Any help would be appreciated since I would like my chevelle to see the street again in the next year.

I bought a rust free convertible frame from AZ and paid $1100.00 for it. I would think that your frame woudl be quit a bit cheaper, less rare and not convertible. I figure $600 - $800 if not less. I did the "POR" to mine. I had it sand blasted, along with the control arms and rear end and it cost $450 for that. Then the POR was about another $200 plus labor on my part. I woudl definatly check into powder coating if I had to do it again.....One member here had his galvanized then painted....looked great inthe pics....so a search for the info..

The frame is the same no worries.

POR or powder coating??? I would powder coating in a heart beat. POR wil only get into the places you can reach a brush too. Where coating is applied with sprayers that are charged. The coating might be a - charge and the frame a + charge. The 2 charges attract and the coating gets all over the frame. Coating is harder then a rock and very durable. Powder coating all the way graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Aaron;
Troy Curtsinger here, I`m new on this board, just thought I would put my 2cents worth in.
I just finished a 66 Elcamino Frame off.
My frame was rusted into. I got one in Goodman mo. at a salvage yard that just handles old stuff, lots of it. It was in very good shape w/the front running assm. for $300.00, sandblasted it my self for $15.00 Used por cost #38.00.Also used por on all the new floors, really looks good.Good Luck TROY:
