: CanAm Club adding 2nd event to 2007 Calendar
Don_Lightfoot Nov 28th, 06, 4:38 PM The CanAm Chevelle Club is pleased to announce a second event being presented by the Club for 2007. In addition to our 5th annual NORTHERN CHEVELLE GATHERING in Niagara Falls, NY in July, we are having our 1st annual CANADIAN CHEVELLE CRUISE-IN in Stratford, ON in September.
Stratford is west of Toronto and is world famous for its Shakespeare Festival. This is the place Dan Devito drove the Army Recruits in the movie "Renaissance Man".
Saturday will be the Show & Shine, then a Police Escorted night cruise to a waterside park for a Pig Roast. May try to put something together for Friday night as well. Stay tuned.
This Canadian Event has been on the burner for a few years just waiting for some Club Members to step up and take it on. We thank members Dan Brown and Karen McGinnis for doing just that. Should be a lot of fun.
For details go to our Club Website below.

LS_5 Nov 30th, 06, 8:17 AM For those of us who haven't tried it yet, how tough is it to get back and forth across the border, these days, with a car in a trailer? Anything extra required? Passports, titles for the car, truck and trailer, etc. etc., etc.?
I know alot seems to depend on the mood of the particular border patrol agent that day, but any "lessons learned" suggestions from our Canadian brethren to help things go more quickly/smoothly?
Thanks.
Andy

My sentiment exactly! And I's takin' my girlfriend!
Andy, I don't know about that. Frankly, CanAm experience has always been our Canadian friends coming down here. But I'll tell you what, my neighbor is the chief of the Border Patrol detachment at the Peace Bridge ( and the union steward), I'll ask Kev what the deal is. I would have passports at the ready, even though it is not yet a requirement. Take note, they scrutinize young kids, so make sure your kids are well documented. We'll see what our U.S. Border Patrol men and women can do for us to make it easy.
Because of this, however, I dont expect any US vendors at all. It will be literally more of a "weekend cruise-in". While Don and Dan have the majority say in it, a non-judged/voted event is OK by the Prez!
Now, the other side of the river/lake, I have no personal contacts. But we'll have a "travel advisory" statement ready to make it as easy as possible.
If we kill a few radical islamists in the meantime, it might help.
Chris Stanwyck Nov 30th, 06, 9:19 AM Great news. Look forward to it as a Canadian.
First order of business will be to look into the CanAm site.
Thanx eh.

Well Andy, I'll give you my experience of going the other way for the past fifteen years or so.
If you are driving the classic, then it is no different than your daily driver, nothing special or extra required relative to the car.
If you are trailering, I recommend you have the title to the old car in the truck with you. Sometimes they ask for it and sometimes they don't. They normally ask if you are going to sell it, simply respond "NO".
Passports are preferred, but photo ID and birth certificates for all passengers is acceptable at this time. The United States is really pushing for "passports only" for border crossing and Canada usually follows suit. Who knows when that will come into effect.
Hope this helps.
BillsCamino Nov 30th, 06, 12:33 PM I believe Dec 2007 is when the passport policy goes into effect for travel to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean .
But, I like to mention...
We returned last Friday (by air) after spending the week in Mexico. Passport use is HIGHLY encouraged already by US Customs. There is even seperate lines to process passport only holders back thru into the States...greatly speeding up the process because the passport can be scanned.
LS_5 Nov 30th, 06, 1:54 PM Thanks! That does help.

Daren71 Nov 30th, 06, 9:09 PM Don, this FANTASTIC, this is my home town, and my parents still live there. Count me in. Daren :beers:
BLT4FN Dec 1st, 06, 12:57 AM just for a side note for the Sunday after it all wraps up. There are 2 drag strips within about 40 miles and another within about 55 miles of this show for those that want to let them hang:D. The local track to me (St. Thomas) does not start anything till 1 on Sundays so lots of time to get there.
