I bought an original ZZZ motor back in 1990 and its has maybe 500 miles on. Anyway I was looking to put it into something and the last time I inspected it it had mouse droppings in the intake. I didn't seal the engine so the intake and exhaust ports are open as well as the distributor hole. I also ran the engine with regular gas and now realize that I had a little detention when it was running.

I plan to put it on an engine stand and tear it down to the short block as a winter project. Can anyone point to a good reference book or manual that I can follow. I'm dangerous enough to turn a wrench and possibly blow myself up in the process.

Any good improvements that I should know about (ie, cam, intake..)

Thanks...

Mark

I am currently using this one:

Comes with a companion DVD for those of us who need to actually see how to do it.

Thanks for the advice.

I just read up on the ZZ4 motor. In the document in makes mention of a new "Hot Cam" for this motor. GM part number is 12480002. Does anyone have any knowledge or opinion on this?

I'm looking to upgrade the cam and intake.
