I am replacing my plastic inner fender wells with painted steel ones. Does anyone have a easy way to put the steel ones back in without scratching them .The engine is out and front tires are off .The plastic ones were a little flexable which allowed the to come out more freely. I don't think the steel ones will be so flexable. Any ideas??
Thanks

One,
You could try wrapping them up in an old bed sheet or blanket while you get them in place, then rip the sheet out to bolt them in.

Thanks for the info. I thought about placing shrink wrap on them and taking it off before bolting them in but the sheet would probibly slide off easier

I have done mine a couple of times by myself.. I just take the tire off & put them in from the underside of the wheel opening.. Just take your time, it's really not that difficult..

I did mine with no problems, they just rolled in when the tire is off.

Just did this yesterday on my 68. Pulled them out into the engine compartment. The front first towards the engine compartment it just slid out from there. Painted it put it back in the same way. I just used blue quick release tape on the inside of the fenders to keep from scratching. Worked great for me. Good luck
