Will the 3856206 heads from a 65 Chev/Pass work on a 66 chevelle with the 3855961 block, the 3866948 intake , and the original exhaust manifolds? What are the differencences between 206 heads from 65 and the 702 heads from 66? Thanks.

They are both oval port closed chamber, 97-98cc. Sounds like they are pretty much the same thing.

I think I have read where a -206 is from 96.4 to 98 cc's so these older heads on a flat-top pistoned, 454 will up the CR. a bunch!

And that's just why I got my pr. of -206's.

Cut these suckers say .100" down to 90 cc's and make sure the p/r's fit and the intake seals and you have excellent compression on a stock, old 454 P/U motor!!

If you cut 100 thou off you are going to lose a hell of a lot more than 8cc's :D

I was just thinking the same thing....I took .045 off of a set of BBC heads a few years ago, and I thought that was pushing it a bit. But the theory is good!

Not much experience here, just wanted to know if there would be any potential problems in using the 206 heads on a 961 block. The only obvious thing I saw from reading was the 97.167 cc's combustion chamber on the 206 heads as apposed to the 98.427 cc's on the 207 head. looking at a pair of used heads, how do I tell if they have been cut? Thanks.

There shouldn't be any problems... The 961 was also used in 1965 on the Full-size line. I have also seem 206 heads in '66 model year vehicles...

Think I read somewhere that there were a few early 66 corvettes and chevelles that got the 206 heads. Anyone else read or hear the same?

Mike,

You know what I'm talking about.

Just get them cut enough to create like 9.8 to 1 CR. using stock P/U motor flat-top pistons and .020" shim heasdgaskets. Should be right at 90 cc's..

As far as I know same pistons. Everything else will be the same. Use them the way they are putting bigger valves in them can get you in trouble.
