Ed,
A lot of that is going to depend on whether you work on the car yourself or not. My Wife drives a 1984 Riviera that has about 150k miles on it and looks and runs like new. The last few months a couple of things have gone wrong, but nothing major. We bought the car new and have maintained it religiously. I dont think you could pay her enough to get rid of it. I have an 84 S-10 for the shop that has 260k miles on it. It is starting to get kind of rough though and I will probably have to replace it next year. My 99 Tahoe that I bought new has 60k miles on it and I hope it will last a long time. Just put an alternator on it, first major repair of any type.

Even if I had to put a motor and trans in the Buick tommorrow, that would still be less than a years worth of car payments on anything new. So I dont see how there is any comparison.
