In process of putting my '69SS back together. Have new grille and received center and lower molding pieces, neither fit correctly. The center molding appears to be good quality,(not sure of brand) however, stands out from each side of grille about 2". To make fit would need to bend and this would double up in the center point of molding. On the lower molding piece "center" point of molding is about 1/2" off center(Curvex is the brand name). Has anyone had any experiences with this type stuff. Know where might I find good moldings that fit, and what would be brand names. Thanks.

I just replaced mine last week. Got them from Ground Up. They fit pretty good. Not perfect, but decent. FWIW

From my experience, aftermarket trim is of the absolute worst quality you can get for repo parts.

It's all crap shipped in from China, most of it is junk. (pot metal stuff should at least fit)

I buy all used trim on ebay and re-chrome, re-anodize etc.

Trim Parts makes the best stuff, but if you go to thier website, they don't have a huge selection.

My advice is to stay away from repo aluminnum and stainless trim alltogether. Buy used stuff and recondition.

If you got a new grille, it's probably for a malibu which does not take a chrome strip thru the middle, hence the reason it won't fit. If you can recondition the original SS grille you'll have better luck with repops fitting....

Actually it is probably a 300 grille if the center bar of the grille is fairly deep - the 300s did not have the center chrome moulding. The 300 grille was the only repop available for years... I think there is some doing a malibu/SS style now.

Thanks for info. Grille is new SS repro and appears to be first quality. Holes in center and lower for molding. Color also appears correct, silver on areas for molding and the rest is black. I have the old original grille and seems to match up well. Has anyone had good luck with a particular brand of repro moldings. The Corvex brand stuff is "junk" as above mentioned. I am on the lookout for some good original moldings that good be refurbished. "Trim Parts" stuff, emblems, etc. seem to be excellent quality but don't beleive they are into moldings. Thanks for thoughts and ideas.
