Bowtie-72 Nov 22nd, 06, 4:09 PM I got one a few years ago. They're great for basic car line specs, but there wasn't any technical info. They had good breakdowns for options, etc. You get probably 80 pages wrth of info for free.
barryt Nov 22nd, 06, 4:33 PM Ok Bowtie
technical info?
well it's free
I just placed the call, was given a Ref. number
I'll see what I get
It can take a while to receive the kit after you call. Basically contains the A.M.A. specs on '69 Chevelles in general. Includes some very detailed specs and some interesting info on some of the options. Asking for your VIN number is just to verify you own one, I'm guessing. You get nothing about your specific car (they say they have no records).
Bowtie-72 Nov 27th, 06, 11:52 AM I don't remember for sure, but I think it is to make sure you get one for your year, and stop people from getting dozens of them.

you'll get so much info, your head will hurt. My kit HAD to be at least 1&1/4"thick.
DaleM Nov 28th, 06, 2:29 PM Each year has different information, some more technical than others. I have one for every year Chevelle from 65 through 72, including a separate one for the 67 El Camino, with some El Camino specific data not found in the Chevelle kit. I heard 64s aren't available and I never tried - might though just to see. There may also be El Camino specific kits for other years, again haven't tried. Also got one for a 74 Corvette I used to have.
One caveat, most are printed early in the model year (Oct-Dec) and changes/updates aren't included. So, if Chevrolet decided to release an option later in the year, it wouldn't show in the kit. Example, my 67 Chevelle kit (dated August, 1966) says a power front seat was not available with floor mounted transmissions, bucket seats or 300 models - yet there are some out there with power bucket seats.
Bowtie-72 Nov 28th, 06, 2:32 PM I figured you would be the one to have most of them, but didn't want to suggest it just in case.
TSM5150 Nov 28th, 06, 5:13 PM Thanks barryt! I just called for mine. Got right thru and it only took a couple of minutes. They said approx 4 weeks to arrive.
barryt Nov 30th, 06, 10:46 PM Well I got the Chevy Resto kit today, 7 days after the call. Placed the call on the 21st of Nov, got a return call the 22nd.
From what I have looked at so far, it was worth my time to call. I got a second book of suppliers of parts and service, clubs, etc.
The 1968 book is dated 10/15/67 which is the same month my car was built.
Has anyone gotten a different date book?
If you haven't gotten one it's well worth the call and price.
Now I am going to call them back to get the Chevy Club I belong to, listed in the book. With 38 members and 56 Chevys in our group they should know about us down here in Columbia, SC. Of the 56 Chevys, I have the only 68 Chevelle SS396. There is 1 - 69 Chevelle SS396, 1- 71 Chevelle clone SS396 and 1- 72/73? Chevelle Heavy Chevy a one owner.
Off this weekend to the first Christmas parade of the season, with the Chevelle.
I want to wish all here a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!!!
Please pray for our Men in uniform, who might be away from their families!!!
98drags10 Dec 1st, 06, 5:24 PM I called for mine on the 22nd and just over a week later I got mine.
