OK...while I'm in the disassembly process on my 64. The deck lid doesn't have springs in the hinges. This is a tubbed car. Anyway my thoughts are to use hydraulic cylinders like on mini van rear doors etc. Has anybody done this? And do you have any tips on mounting, size etc...I think this would be a nice touch.

Look at the linear actuators.I have installed them on a few street rods and they work nice.It automatically raises and lowers the lid when you hit a button.Pretty cool.
