I have 2 regular stock chevelle hoods, but what I really want is a cowl hood. I'd like to find a cowl insert, but I haven't been able to find any that have the same apearance as the original 70 cowl hoods, the're all way too big. If anyone knows of where I can find an insert that keeps the ss cowl look, or wants to trade my 2 non-cowl hoods for their ss hood(yea right) please post. I'll probably have to buy a whole 'nother hood, so if anyone has one for sale, or knows where I can get one for a good price, let me know.
Thanks

The GM CI Hood (believe it or not) is still available from Chev parts dept (WAY over $500) the repro hood (I have one and really like it) is available from the aftermarket dealers for about half the price.

If you decide to go the repro route, check your local phone book for any resto parts places. It will save the freight costs.
I believe Goodmark supplies all the resto houses with CI hoods and sheet metal.

Is there any other way I can get a non working cowl? I guess I might just have to fabricate my own. If anyone know of the measurements of the actual cowl on the hood or knows of a place I can get a real good picture of it, I'd be greatly appreciative. Or better yet if someone knows of where I can get an insert that retains the stock appearence of the SS's.
Thanks

Bryan,
Save your pennies and get the real deal. You won't be satisfied with a hack-job especially since YOU are going to be staring at it everytime you drive the car.

You should be able to get a Repro SS hood w/ nonfunctional CI easily. I know Year-One and OPGI offer them. I'm assuming that these are probably all made by the same company and then shipped to the various distributers.
Call a few places- I think you'll find what you're looking for.
