What is the piece called that is at the front of the car that the lights, grill and radiator all bolt to? Sorry if this is a stupid question and I'm not explaining it very well. I have a 71 and I'm about to install a new radiator and convert to power disk brakes. I think since I'm already doing this I will just take the time remove the fenders and front and clean it up. I cant seem to find the technical name for the metal piece that every thing in the front attaches to. Once it's out I want to clean it up and repaint it, what would be the best way to do this. Por-15? Normal gloss black? I'm just starting out and need all the help I can get thanks guys.

I believe you are talking about the "Radiator Support". The radiator support is the large piece of sheetmetal that connects everything in the front. It is also the part that connects to the frame via two rubber bushings.
If your going to completely remove it you might as well get it blasted and painted.
Oh, By the way. There is no such thing as a stupid question. However, it is possible to give stupid answers. (I've done it)
I dont know what the correct paint number is.

I'm thinking you're talking about the radiator support. Ties the front of the fenders to the frame and each other.

Ok that's what I thought but when I do a search for it I just get back stuff about the little piece that holds up the radiator. I was trying to find a site were they show the disassembly of it but couldn't find any. What is the general cost of having it blasted? My question on the paint was is it better to use paint or would the gloss por-15 be good?

The por-15 will work great I used it to paint the frame and suspension parts on my 72 chevelle and I am satisfied with the results.
