I have a few quick questions:
1. How are the rear emblems on a 71 Chevelle attatched?

2. What are the differences between '70 and '71 Grille emblems?

3. How do you know where to attatch the fender emblems?

Thanks a lot,
Kris Horton

1. The rear emblem on the deck lid is attached by 5 pins (one of the "C" letter, another on the "H", the third one is in the first "L", and the two others are at the "BY CHEVROLET" sign). The pins have small caps that fit from the other side of the pin ones its in the deck lid.

2. The 70 emblem is attached to the middle thick bar that is in the 70 grill. (The 71 doesn't have that bar so you don't have a place to bolt it into).

3. Fenders emblems.. which? (Malibu, SS, 350, 396, etc.)
Buy a diagram that shows exactly where the emblems fit.

Hope that helped you.

Thanks, it kinda helped, but I was talking about SS emblems only. Where could I get a good diagram?

For $20 you can buy an assembly manual that will give you all the dimensions as well as show you how the whole car is assembled.

Most of these emblems come with extensions and held on with speed nuts from the factory.
Have heard of some folks using barrel clips to make it easier to remove fender and trunk lid Chevelle emblems (if they have to). Con about this is you have to be careful on removal or emblems break easily.

Front grill emblem has a backing plate on the engine compartment side of grill.

Rear bumper SS emblem is made in a slight "V" configuration and has holes drilled in the bumper to accomodate. In addition, there is a small rubber niblet hole for lining this up.

Same thing for the fender emblems. Extensions and speed nuts on the individual "S"s. One other thing on the fender emblems. I have never seen a pair of these from the factory where they actually look they are sitting straight on the fender. Pre-drilled holes just make them look off a little. Mine is a '71 and I have seen two other '70's that had the same appearance.
