i posted a thread last week about porting and intake. I got many replies about different grinding stones and tools. I started to think about using a hand file, so I experimented. It seem to cut the aluminum intake just fine. So I was wondering what is wrong with using a file.

A file is OK to a point but it will leave cut marks. You want the runners as smooth as possible. Use the file to get them close, then use a dremmel to smooth every thing out.

ss,
Most of the parts of the port that really make a difference in airflow are not accessable with a file.
