I have a 66 El Camino with 396 and Holley 4160 Carb. I want to install a PCV system as now there is nothing at all and I'm choking from the fumes in the cockpit as well as polluting the environment.
I haven't done this before so am looking for advice so I don't screw it up. Any ideas? Thanks!

sounds like there are some holes/openings for fumes to come thru that you want to find & cover/plug.
hook a pvc-valve from the valve cover to the large vacuum port @ rear of the holley and hook another pvc-valve from the other valve cover to the bottom of the base plate on the air cleaner assembly.

You need ONE pcv valve, not two. The valve goes between the carb vacuum source and the exit point for the engine fumes. That's usually (but not always) one of the valve covers. Give preference to routing the fumes to the front of the carb, not the rear, so it mixes with the intake fuel/air stream better.
There should be a vent on the opposite side of the engine--again, usually the other valve cover--that allows fresh air into the engine. This can be filtered but otherwise open to the atmosphere, or you can route air from the air cleaner housing. The second way is better.
The toughest part is figuring out a suitable PCV valve. There are dozens of part numbers, and absolutely zero information from the manufactureres about flow rates. Best bet: find a production engine of similar size using a similar cam grind, and adapt that pcv valve to work in your application.

Sherm, You are going to need a set-up like this, It is a closed system and in 68' all PCV systems were closed. This should calm down those escaping crankcase fumes. This is strait out of a Holley carb and mainfolds book.
