Anyone know what that going rate to have a full 1/4 replaced might be for my 70? Maryland/Delaware area preferred

First, how bad is the 1/4? The sheetmetal on these cars is lot more repairable than newer cars. Chev-hell thought he was going to need a new 1/4 last year when some guy backed into his car, but his body man saved it and did a top notch repair on it. If possible, post some pics unless it's just rusted out. The only way to fix badly rusted sheetmetal is with new metal.

I cant speak for MD but down in Alabama its costing me $200.00 plus the price of the panel ($499.00 from Goodmark). This includes installing the complete factory style quarter, blocking out minor imperfections and applying seam sealer where needed.

I'M originally from Maryland so I"m well aware of the increased cost of living and prices in that area. I would imagine that it will cost you over $500.00 plus the cost of the panel.

I'll try yo post some pics tomorrow. The 1/4 on there now must have been put on by Stevie Wonder. Someone ran into the car back in 82. Shop replaced the whole 1/4 but when they did they didn't butt the 1/4 and the roofline together, they tucked the 1/4 under the roof and welded it. There is a big drop off from the roof to the 1/4. Then they filled it in with filler and covered it with a vinyl top.
The lower panel has been filled in because it's rusted pretty good.
Plus, along the rear 1/4 window, the 1/4 panel is 1/2 to 3/4" pulled out from where it's supposed to be....there is a big gap there. You'll see in the pics

OK guys, here's the pics I promised. You can see the crappy job joining the 1/4 to the sail panel and the way the whole panel is too far away from the rear 1/4 window http://mywebpages.comcast.net/bryanandwesty3/chevelle/page1.htm

bryan.. It seems you are a painter if not a body man.. I have heard estimates for a quarter from removed to painted costing 2000.00 A quarter removal and installation should take a good body man a full day to complete.. At a typical 50 bux an hour you are looking at ~400 bucks... Plus the cost of the panel. That is just estimating the sheetmetal work. Filling the seams and minor body work will be another day or so. This is estimating of course that the remainder of the car is straight and rust free. othewise your opening up more. I'd say for a good job on the quarter, start to finish expect close to 1000.00 but thats at Jersey cost.. Good luck with your project!

THanks Norm.I've talked to a few others and $400 for R&R seems to be a good estimate. However, I did make a new friend today that has done 1/4 panels before. I've seen his work and it could possibly be free...I hope
