I plan to do the body work on my chevelle my self, but not the paint. I only have a small compressor and no tools yet. I've read many post on here about small compressors not keeping up with air tools and paint guns. so I'm wondering if you can get electic d/a's sanders, buffers..etc and do as good a job with them as air tools, Thanks for you help. graemlins/beers.gif

Regarding your compressor issues.....
I have a Sears single stage 6hp 30 gal (I think). I have used a commercial grade sander- just a flat 16" 2" wide model which I had to adapt fittings to downsize it to the size of my chuck. It would run for 45 seconds to 1 minute before it drew the pressure down too low to continue. This was a borrowed sander, from a bodyman and I'm hoping that a Campbell Hausefield or some other "shadetree mechanic" special will run better. The specs I've researched some time ago would seem to fall into the range that my compressor would be able to keep up. I'm looking to buy a DA sander shortly. Anybody else care to weigh in on this?

All the stories about air tools eating huge quantities of air are correct. You can not do much with a small compressor. I have used an electric palm sander with some success. It is a Black and Decker "pro" type. I have not seen any electric DA sanders though.

You can do some work with electric tools but you would be much happier with air, borrow a compressor maybe?
