I put a new frame under my 67 chevelle and I am switching it to a big block(454). I bought new big block frame mounts--which way do they go--facing rear or facing front?? the assembly manual shows ss 396 mounts to point tward the front so thats tghe way I mounted them. also I bought some 396 mounts for the engine and they seem to tight to go on ----has anybody had this problem??? Any suggestions??? thanks Danny

The stands on my 68 are closer to the front of the car than the rear 2 bolts. If that makes any sense.:clonk: My car is orignally a 307 set-up, so likely different than what you have.

For what it's worth, the fat, square part of the actual stand, is closer to the front of car than the thin part that bolts to crossmember.

Hope this makes sense. I'd take a picture but I don't know how to post it onto this reply.:(

I still have my 327 in mine, but from what I've read I'll be able to keep these for my big block as well.

Just read the second part of your problem. There are two styles of mounts and stands.

First type, for 307 motor only, the stand for the mount measures 2 1/4 x2 1/4 x 2" deep. And only motor mounts for this size fit.

The Second type are for 350 and all other small block and big block applications. They don't mix between the two styles. You think they would, because they kinda jam on ok. However, the correct ones go on like butter. trust me, just went through this.

Go to www.energysuspension.com That's where I got mine, worked perfectly.

Good Luck,
John
