I made mistake i painted my frame then read your posts about "Basics of Basics"..lol

what im comcerened about is the guys doing my body work is using what i believe is a urathayne(sp) primer buff color and now i go to buy paint and my YS 178 (paintcode) is only available in dupont centari in enamel, will this be ok?? I believe i want enamel from what I read it is an all around work horse. This will be my frist so im trying to do it right... also do i need the hardner they tried to sell me too??

Am a firm believer in the baseclear system, but there are expections. You mention one YOUR color choice is avaible only is enamel. Sometimes when you switch a lacquer formula over to a baseclear system you dont get the right effect of the color.

Wont try to talk you out of enamel it has its pros and cons. But whatever you do, buy the hardner, not buying it would be your biggest mistake

First off, is this color a metallic or is it a solid color? If it is metallic, a bc/cc is a near must. If it is a solid, it should work out fine, like you said, it is a good old work horse.

As Eric said, you will definitely want the hardener. It is much easier to repair if you mess up. Runs, dirt, and the like are MUCH easier to repair if you add the hardener. It is MUCH more buffable if you add the hardener.

Do you plan on painting it yourself?

Now I'm curious, what is 'code YS 178' ???

the color is a orangeish yellow...look at my web page my frame is already painted.

Thanks for the info guys and yes my father and i plan on painting this car. The body work should be done this weekend or early next week.. hope to jam it, firewall and other small stuff like dash and door top edges.. any other info is appreciated...
