i am in the process of replacing both quarter panels ( new goodmark) on my 70 ss. the old ones were leaded to the roof panel. not having any experience with lead, i was wondering what else, if anything i could use. thanks.

You don't have to use lead, you can use plastic filler, and it will be fine.
The factory used plastic there on vinyl top cars.
I use Marglass, its a fiberglass reinforced body filler made for areas like this.

On my last job I used a small propane torch heated the lead and it melted away. Then cut thru spot welds . We mig welded the other one in , used All Metal aluminum filler, which is water proof as the first application then used a good plastic filler until it was sraight. We always use 3M Weld Thru on the back side to prevent rust
