I would like to possibly help set up a cruise-in/even/show for this next spring for our group.

"The TURLOCK SWAP MEET always takes place during the last full weekend in January. In 2007, the Swap Meet will take place January 27-28, 2007. The hours of operation are Saturday, 7 AM to 5 PM and Sunday, 7 AM to 3 PM. Admission is $5.00 at the gate, children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. "

I'm always down for track days... with turns. :D

Actually, some high-speed mountain runs would be fun... Hwy 49, Ice House, Markleeville, Foresthill, Lake Alpine, etc. Also some great roads over by Mount Diablo, and can't forget Skyline over in the bay area.

A run up to Mount Hamilton would be pretty cool too.

That would be a great drive in a nicely handling car, as long as it was an open road in front of you... Hate to get stuck behind some slow moving vehicle on that one...

There are a few Chevelle clubs around. A group of us here on TC get together infrequently for BBQs, beer drinking, Test-n-tunes, swap meets, etc and even some wrenching... This forum is usually where you will hear about these events...

I make very quick work of passing slower vehicles... even if that "slower" vehicle is moving at 100. :p

Honestly, it sucks getting stuck behind a slower vehicle on any road... especially the fun ones! Doubly annoying if there are turnouts they refuse to use. Last time I was up on Skyline in the Subaru I had 2 guys on bikes wave me by because they were holding me up in the turns. :waving:

A run up to Mount Hamilton would be pretty cool too.

I've been up to the Mt. Hamilton Observatory from the San Jose side. It was a blast, but the road was a bit rough. I remember seeing the sign at the top saying it was a windy road for 52 or some miles to Patterson. All I could think was "SWEET!" On the descent back to San Jose I made a motorcycle rider look like a pansy (he ended waving me by). LMAO. I really need a quick-ratio box as I have to turn the steering wheel too much with the stock steering box :o .

Blu,

What year did you graduate from Turlock. Im 31 and graduated from Ceres High. I know a lot of people that graduated from Turlock, some I don't care for others I know by name, others I know well. Were you in any sports? I played football, and soccer and ran track. I was in 4-H also. Also if you are into current events or read the news paper, my brother was Captain Raymond D. Hill (turlock, california- lived off of east and berkley) with the California National Guard. He was KIA on Oct 29 of last year.

It would be great if we could overwhelm some car show with Loads of Chevelles to have a big showing. I will try to get some possibilities rounded up and put them out there for some decision making. Well I have good news.... My chevelle is going into the paint shop on Friday. They said 4-6 months and more like the shorter end of the time frame. I can't wait. Ive been doing lots of "finish" work to my car while it has been sitting. Got the wiring harness all done (made my own with custom 18 fuse box from a f$%d Taurus, it flips down from under the dash). I only have one problem with the harness. My wipers done have power yet so I have to figure that one out. Im going to be running the chassis on a dyno this sunday to see what my basic setup has. Im currently running:

.060 4-bolt 350
.010/.010 under crank
flat top TRW pistons
2.02 72 CC cast iron heads
Holley Dual Plane manifold
650CFM Holley Vacuum Secondaries

.488 lift I/E
1.5 ratio rocker arms OEM
700R4 Trans

Long headers 2.5" exhaust with flowmasters

After Paint im installing:

2800 Stall lockup converter

That would be fun mid May would be best for me, I wont have my Chevelle (Its in for paint) but My wife and I could roll in with her 66 Valiant Conv. What kind of thing would everyone like to do? Saturday evening cruise in to a park (barbecue potluck) or a 50's Diner? Maybe somewhere between Modesto and Stockton? Lets hear some suggestions.

There is a little burger joint in Tracy called Wally's. When the weather gets nice they have a old school cruise in for all types of 50's/muscle cars on Wednesday evenings. Their parking could easily be overwhelmed by 25 or more cars though. Maybe that's a starting or ending point for something we could put together. I'm down for any type car enthusiasts get together.

Just to let everyone know... there is a car show on May 19th in Los Banos, At Pacheco Park located at Pacheco Blvd (hwy 152) and 7th St. There is a $500 best of show award, and goodies to the first 100 cars to singn up. I think it would be cool if we got as many of us as possible to sign up for it and come in as one big group. However my car is still about 4 months off but I "should" have my wife's motor back in her 66 Valiant Conv. There will be Food, Raffle, Games and Awards. It is being sponsored by Rod Runners.

There are 8 classes: Stock, Truck, Custom, Daily driver, Semi Custom, Street Rod, Muscle Car, and Under construction. The Cost is $15 by May 10 and $20 same day. Contact information is 209-675-5485, 209-704-2760. Thay also ask about Club information so I guess we can all go as Team Chevelle unless we want to come up with a different name.

I plan to go to a few of the events. Went to the Tradeway show on Tues and 5 min carwash show on Weds. Skiped the one tonight at the Roadhouse, but Friday night is a parade in downtown Modesto. Then MJC on the weekend.
Maybe the Fruityard. This is the first year it's been free admit. They usually have high dollar entertainment that they need to cover for.

Tradeway is probably the only one that shouldn't be missed. Private property burnouts. Made me feel 34 years younger...

Ron and Brian,
My Elky isn't show worthy. It's not bad from afar for a primer'ed car, but the interior is about ready for a complete overhaul. Then a frame off stripping of several layers of paint. It do make a good amount of smoke though... :)

I'll be the one trying to negotiate the grounds in a wheelchair. I usually do crutches, but they tend to hurt after a while.

I'll probably go Sat later in the morning and maybe Sunday. I need to take a friend to the airport in the early am. We can exchange Cell numbers if you want to meet up somewhere.

come see me and let me know you're from TC. I'm the young guy with the black 71 ss... no stripes. I've been wanting to pay for a membership on this site, but i was wondering does it erase your current account and you have to start all over?

We made to MJC on Saturday. Rushed thru without seeing everything.

Lots of people considering there was the other show 10 miles away.

Maybe next time.

im not sure what the next show ill be going to... i might be taking my engine out pretty soon, but i might wait until the weather turns sour in the winter. I was an idiot and let my car sit all winter with out getting the motor out to fix the leak. We'll see tomorrow when i call the guy who machined my engine.

:D I missed the MJC show due to a family function I was hosting. :hurray:BBQ with young ladies playing volleyball in the pool.
I hear that this years Modesto Blues festival will include a car show to coincide with the grafitti summer functions here in MoTown. The date for the festival is June 23rd. I am trying to get the wifie on board with Blues festival/car show. We both like the blues and if the Chevelle is inside the show I can stow a few cold adult beverages in the trunk!

Hey Rich! This is Jenn (Rob aka mad hooker's) girlfriend. You met us at the Good Guys show. I think we're going to try to go to the Blues Festival, so we should meet up!
Maybe we could PM eachother our cell phone numbers so we can find eachother. :D

:o Modesto Blues festival is a bust! A local car club will be providing 16 cars for the show which won't even be inside the grounds. No open entries and the cars will be parked on the street due to the last event which damaged the lawn! PT Cruisers! I'll be riding the Triumph up to Jackson in the AM, and hitting the A&W with the Chevelle in Modesto in the PM!

There is going to be a 4th of July car showand parade in Turlock. I will be there trailering my Late brother's (KIA Baghdad Iraq 10/29/05) 65 Mustang in the parade, and my wife will be driving her 66 Valiant Conv. The reason I will be trailering the 'stang is that is in need of being restored. He had about 70% of the restoration parts ready to go when he got home from Iraq but didn't make it. The Modesto Bee ran an article http://www.modbee.com/columnists/jardine/story/13632118p-14227992c.html
looking for people in the community to help out in any way. The gentelman that is in charge of the parade and show wants to promote the 'stang and solicit donations and help. Anyway, I will be there and if anyone wants to join the show, the website is www.turlock4thofjuly.com you can go there to register.

Not sure where something is going to be... but I got good/bad news about my 64 'Velle. Sounds like mid August when i get it back from paint. So I wont be going to any cruises this summer/fall. I coach football and we start in early August and go till Oct. But my Wife's 66 Valiant Convertable is able to go.
