No LB, I had the top installed, I wanted to have an experienced installer do that in hopes of eliminating future problems.

I used a Satajet 90sl(gravity feed, conventional) gun to shoot RM Uno brand single stage urethane. I used 3M 1500 finishing film on my electric da to color sand and then compounded and glazed.

I'm going to post some pics in the bench racing showing the whole truck.

Big James, thanks for the info. WOW, the gloss is beautiful... What made you decide on Sata 90LS vs an HVLP Sata? and what did it cost? if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks LB! I was concerned about the ability of my compressor to supply air. The conventional takes less air than the HVLP according to info on guns I found at www.autobodystore.com (http://www.autobodystore.com) in the paint gun sales listing. I believe it was about $375 total. I was still pushing my 9.7cfm@40 compressor but since I painted the truck in pieces it wasn't bad at all. Also, that gun sprays a lot of material quickly, so you're done fast.

I tried the Divilbiss FinishlineII but was totally dissatisfied with it even as a primer gun. Some people claim good results with it but I feel like I wasted $150 on it.

The trick to the gloss is the color sanding. The 3M finishing film on my little electric DA completely removed the slight orange peel. I used the 1500 dry which lets the dust act like a guide coat and you can see the orange peel go away. Do a search on this at the BBS of site mentioned above for much more info on this.

I was missing studs for the top trim on the quarters and replaced them with a screw in type from Mr. G's. The window moulding ones were still there.
