If you want to take the easy way out of this, use one of the delete boxes that American Grafitti sells, $140 and you're done.

Being in the south also, that A/C is pretty nice stuff. Is your car a factory A/C car? The astro ventilation doesn't mean it's an A/C car, the factory started astro ventilation when the vent windows were no longer used.

I did the A/C delete on my '70 with the American Grafitti box. It wasn't too hard and I think the engine compartment looks a whole lot better.

It's up to you, not anyone here.
Do you want/need air-conditioning?
If so, how bad?

Mine was all ripped out in the 70's to make it go faster. I replaced it with original stuff, (under $1,000 when all totalled up) even found a place to put R-12 in it and it blows nice cold air now. Very comfortable in October when it was 90 degrees out and I went for a cruise.

If his location is correct...I'll bet he'd like the AC :)
