: 1967 D96 (?) stripes on a 66- anybody done it?

I was thinking lately about the factory side-stripes for the 1967 SS Chevelles.

I was thinking of putting these on my 1966 SS... I would use the Optional stripes(that also go OVER the wheel arches). see post below, I think I'd go with the standard stripes instead

My car is far from stock (but looks relatively stock on the outside), and I thought this would be a nice addition, but still retain that stock factory flavor...

I figured the body contours are the same, exceot the front portion of the front fender. And that piece is actually shorter on the 66, so the stripes should fit perfectly...

Anybody ever do this? I have never seen it done...

I think I would choose the White stripes, to go with the white interior and top (as well as my wheels-powder coated white as well)...

Sound cool?

oops, I didn't read the part about a white top. You get the idea though. I just did this quickly with a pretty low res image to start.

I would suggest making the wheels blue instead of white. Unless they are silver, I think the wheels look better when they match the body.

If you have a better shot of your car from the side, I can use that too so you can get a better idea. You can email it to me if you like and I'll post it.

Thanks Chad...

Actually, looking around at more cars on the web... I decided that those stripes (the optional ones) look to wide for me...

Chad, I think I want the same stripes that you have on the ragtop in you signature!!!, only in white. (the pictures a little fuzzy though

Those are the optional stripes I was thinking of (but I didn't realize they were so thick), but now I am thinking of the standard 1967 SS stripes, without the arched portion...

I think these are the ones I want (at least size wise, etc, in white).

I don't have another digital photo here with the side of the car, but my wheels are white (powder coated) corvette-style rallys with the small "disc brake" center caps and a full trim ring... Once again, very much like your car Chad. I have 15X8s out back with 295-50/15s and 15X7 up front with 265-50/15s. Currently its probably a little higher, but I want it to sit about like yours, maybe a bit lower... I probably won't be changing the color of those... Plans call for 17" Edelbrock "409" 5-spokes or Intro wheels 17" Vistas... Both variations on the overused Torque Thrusts...

Tony,
Don't mean to impose on your question but I wonder if you can give me more details on your wheels and tires.

What brand tire, the backspacing on the wheels and did the rears fit without any mods to the car?
Thanks
B~
