I recently took my 70 Malibu convertible to the body shop for an estimate to repair the rust in the floors and trunk. After giving me a estimate of over $1,500 to replace, he told me he has been doing a lot more of the 1/4" thick spray in bedliner for this repair. $400, cleaned, sprayed and out the door. In addition to sealing up the holes he said it would make the car a whole lot quieter. The Conv is in pretty decent shape otherwise, red car/white interior/top. Numbers matching, 350/350.

What are some expert opinions out there? Is this a sin I will regret later? This car is intended to be a weekend driver, local cruise show on occasion....

Thanks for all who post a reply.

Walk away from that shop!!!! If it's rusted through, the ONLY RIGHT WAY is to cut and weld patch panels correctly. I don't believe in POR 15 Rust patch unless it's for a VW Bug or a Ford! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

SIN!!!!He would rather shoot some bedliner crap in the trunk and take your $400 rather than cut and weld in new stuff that takes some real time and effort,That stuff will just cover up the rust,it wont stop it.I would never buy a car with bedliner coating in the trunk.Dont walk away - RUN!
