10secBu Apr 15th, 03, 4:18 PM That rotisserie looks cheap anyway...we have a much, much better one built at the shop...fully adjustable, easy to balance, one hand to rotate body over. His looks like two large engine stands...big deal.

Do you have an image of the rotisserie that you built that you could post or send to me. A friend and I are in the design phase for building one and could use all of the ideas we can get.
You mention that you can use "one hand to rotate body over". Is this is a function of getting the proper weight distribution above and below the centerline of the axis that you're turning the body around ?
3rd question, Is any additional bracing required when putting a 66 convertible body on a rotisserie with or without the doors on.
thanks,

You will need braces to keep it from folding up  Make an X in the door area.Try a search too for more detailed info.

No need to make your posts personal just because I stated the facts that your posting an ad for JUNK in a forum where it's not allowed.
Sorry, but you didn't hurt my feelings on the car. I'm 33 years old and quite confortable with myself and my "slow" ride as you put it. If you got something better in your garage, then good for you...just don't put it on your crappy rotisserie, or you'll risk dropping it on it's roof while turning it upsidedown. graemlins/hurray.gif graemlins/thumbsup.gif graemlins/waving.gif
67chevelle509,
I have a message with my buddy to find out the exact brand name if the rotisserie we have at the shop (I'll post the info once he gets back to me). The name "jiggly wiggly" or something like that. It's fully adjustable to balance both ends of the pivot to find the exact center of balance both side-to-side and top-and-bottom. It takes some time to setup initially, but once it's done, you can turn the car with one hand and stop, then let go and the car will sit still and not turn anymore...very trick IMO...this company really spent some time working out the fine details.

Plans for these things are all over the internet. $300 worth trailer hitch stock, a couple of casters, a few fasteners and a welder is all it takes to build one of these. Why don't you get honest and buy advertising on this site? Maybe then you can get the exposure you seek.

The one you are talking about is the whirly jig. The one at the site I posted does all the center of gravity and same adjustability side to side also doesn't hog the whole shop when not on use plus doesn't cost over a grand like the whirly jig. Also my car was on one of these rotisseries from www.theroto2000.com (http://www.theroto2000.com) ....worked great!!
10secBu Apr 16th, 03, 8:19 PM Yup, that's it...

I've used it personally, and it's the nicest design I've ever seen.
When it comes to hanging a rare car upsidedown, skimping on the rotisserie is not the place to save a couple bucks. As with anything, you get what you pay for.

[/QB]Look for the tech article on the Super Chevy website about the Goodmark Chevelle buildup. They made an excellent low cost (and sturdy!) one that breaks down for storage nicely.
