Do a search or email DZAUTO he has compared a repo and original side-by-side and thought the repop was ok.

My experience with Unlimited Products and their chevelle hoods has led me to go else where to find a good product. The last one I used was ordered from a place in florida called FZN I do believe. They have a web address but I can't recall it at the moment. Hope this helps.

DG is right,
I have a COMPLETE repo CI Hood system on my 70 conv that I got from Original Parts Group (OPG) about 2yrs ago. My son's 71 has an original Chev CI Hood. Side by side, same, same, basically. ZERO complaints about fit, clearance (I have no clue who the mfg for OPG is). The price difference is about half. If you want the genuine GM hood, it is still available from Chev parts dept.

I recently tried to buy a CI hood at the local Chevy dealer and was told they are now discontinued. It looks like I waited to long and will have to go the repro route now.

Take Care,

I know about five years ago, OPG got these hoods from GM. It was cheaper to go to the dealer, and order one since you didn't have to pay shiping. I should have bought a dozen as at the time, they were $400 a pop.

Is it OK to just mount the hood AS IS without primer? The repro's come with EDP coating does anybody know if the flapper is coated also?

The flapper that is sold by the aftermarket folks is the original GM flapper that they buy from Chev and you can too.

If the original hood is now discontinued from Chev, I'll bet a nickel to a hole in a donut that the reason is because of this TC site. It seems like all of a sudden that everyone has been wanting to add one.
If a person is set on having an original GM hood (even for twice the price), I would recommend calling ASAP one/some of the aftermarket folks to see id they have any in stock.
